QUARANTINE ISLAND, also known as Karantina Adasi, is an island in Urla, a town and district of Izmir Province in Turkey. A brief history of ancient Clazomenae; what is now known as KARANTINA ISLAND.
Arriving Friday, 23 September-Sunday, 2 October, 2005, the days and nights that I stayed on the island left such a deep impression and had such a profound effect on me, that as much as I wanted to share my experience, I didn't know how to go about it for fear of its potency getting lost in translation.

More than three years later, I feel that I have the confidence in allowing those interested a glimpse of a very special moment in my life along with some very special people that I feel so fortunate to have met and experienced. Below is a selection of the work created upon my return from Turkey till present which I call A DIFFERENT PLANE. Of course, depending on the idea, I still work on a solid, plane surface, this group involves working with surface textures using recycled strips of canvas-mounted paper. I started working with these materials just before participating in the symposium in Turkey, and continued to toy with various ideas while I was there till now.
