When the Wave Breaks, an installation, summer 2013, Phyllis Stigliano Gallery What is a wave but a monumental force that one must face alone. You either allow your fear to keep you paralyzed in the face of it, or call on your faith and courage and in the process discover your humility in having come out through the other side and are able to share your experience.

In addition to winds and currents, a wave is created by energy in the water that has travelled hundreds of miles. When the Wave Breaks is my interpretation of this process; walls covered with woven panels of varying dimensions of white paper and natural canvas representing the undulating ocean's currents and being hung at intervals will represent changing floor levels. A wave constructed of approximatley 14-15 feet of material rising up from all of this is captured at the moment of it's collapse.
